belle [bel] noun 1. a woman or girl admired for her beauty and charm 2. the most beautiful, charming, or engaging woman or girl among a number.

Competition Overview:

This is the third annual Belle Event. It is a women’s only CrossFit competition geared towards the beginner to intermediate CrossFit athlete. The event will encompass 3 WOD’s with only the top competitors moving on to the final event. Our goal is to make this event as inclusive as possible, sticking to only the most fundamental CrossFit movements. This year will only have 1 division Rx and teams will be made up of 2 female athletes. Only the most fit and determined ladies can become the Belles.

Standards:

Listed below are the more challenging elements of our competition. Some of these may be used in the competition.

Both athletes should have a minimum of the following for multiple repetitions:
65# Thruster
65# Front Squat
65# Push Press / Jerk
65# Hang Power Clean
65# Power Clean
53# Russian Swing
35# American Swing
14# Wallball 8′ Target
135# Deadlift

At least one athlete should have a minimum of the following:
Double Unders
155# Deadlift
95# Squat
55# Power Snatch
Pullup

The Final WOD will be reserved for top teams and may contain challenging movements. As always don’t let this deter you from competing.

4 Minute Warmup

1 Clean (any style) + 2 Front Squats + 1 Shoulder to Overhead (any style)

Score = Total of each partners best lift
*Note: Each team will get 1 35# barbell and a set of bumper plates and clips. Clips must be used.
2.5’s, 5’s, 10’s, 25’s, 35’s, 45’s
Any attempt taken during the warmup period will NOT count.

Movement Standards

CLEAN
A muscle clean, power clean, squat clean or split clean may be used, as long as the barbell comes to the shoulders, with the hips and knees fully extended with the feet in line and the elbows in front of the bar.

FRONT SQUAT
At the bottom of the front squat the hip crease must pass below the knees. The barbell must be held in the front rack position with the barbell in contact with the shoulders. At the top the hips and knees must be fully extended.

JERK
A press, push press, power jerk or split jerk may be used, as long as the barbell comes to full lock out overhead with the hips, knees and arms fully extended, and the bar directly over the body.

Movement Standards

DOUBLE UNDERS

This is the standard double-under in which the rope passes under the feet twice for each jump. The rope must spin forward for the rep to count. Only successful jumps are counted, not attempts.

LATERAL BURPEE OVER THE BAR

Each burpee must be performed parallel to the barbell. The chest and thighs touch the ground at the bottom. You must jump over the barbell from both feet and land on both feet. One-footed jumping or stepping over is not permitted. The next rep will then begin on the opposite side of the barbell.

HANG POWER CLEAN

Each repetition must start from the hang. Any repetition taken from the floor must achieve a deadlift lockout (hips and knees fully extended, shoulders behind the bar) before re-dipping to initiate the hang power clean. Each repetition finishes with the bar racked on the shoulders and the elbows clearly in front of the bar with the hips and knees fully extended. Power cleaning the barbell from the ground in one continuous motion is not permitted.

THRUSTER

This is a standard barbell thruster in which the barbell moves from the bottom of a front squat to full lockout overhead. The bar starts on the ground. No racks allowed. The hip crease must pass below the knees. A full squat clean into the thruster is allowed if the bar is on the ground. The barbell must come to a full lockout overhead with the hips, knees and arms fully extended, and the bar directly over the body.

Movement Standards

DEADLIFT

This is a traditional deadlift with the hands outside the knees. Sumo deadlifts are not permitted. Starting at the floor, the barbell is lifted until hips and knees reach full extension with the shoulders behind the bar. Any hand position is allowed, but the arms must be straight throughout. No bouncing.

KETTLEBELL STEP-UP

The Kettlebell can be held any way the athlete chooses, however the Kettlebell may not touch the box at any point during the movement. (i.e. no placing kettlebell on the box and then stepping down, however kettlebell can be rested on box in transition between partners). Athlete must stand tall at the top of the box with two feet, hips and knees must reach full extension.

RUSSIAN KETTLEBELL SWING

The Kettlebell must reach eye level with the bell parallel to the ground. Hips and knees must be fully extended.
